This policy applies to personal identity information shared on the geo.nasqueron.org services.

It hosts a Hauk server, to allow physical location sharing through the Hauk Android application.

This private policy describes the policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of the information.

Last updated: 2023-02-20.

Type of data collected

Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

Hauk
  • IP addresses
  • Your exact physical location using network- and GNSS-based location service providers
  • A nickname of your choice (when running group shares)

Use of data

Hauk service

Note: the parts in italic are extracted from the Hauk Client Privacy Policy, 2019-11-08.

When you use the Hauk app, you are prompted to enter connection details to a Hauk backend server of your choice. Hauk app will send your location and, if you enable group share, a nickname.

When you generate a unique link for your location, anyone with this link will be able to see your location, and if applicable, your nickname, in realtime for as long as you are sharing. This includes people you send the link to directly, but may also include people you don’t know, if the recipients you send the link to forward it to others. You can not see the identities of specific people you are sharing your location to, or who are viewing your link at any given time. You can stop sharing your location at any time using the “Stop” button within the Hauk app.

All services

When you connect to the geo.nasqueron.org site, through an application like Hauk or a web browser, your IP address is collected in the server logs. The general web services policy applies for this use.

Retention

The Hauk backend will retain your location for as long as your location sharing session is active. When you stop sharing your location, the Hauk app will attempt to inform your backend server to immediately delete all data for that sharing session. The Hauk backend will retain a history of submitted location points while your share is active.

The number of location points that are retained at any given time is 3, the server deletes older submitted points, even if they can't still be viewed by the people having already received it.

You can't have a session active for more than 24 hours, so location won't be able to be stored more than that delay.

Transfer

The PII is processed only on Nasqueron infrastructure.

Disclosure

Under certain circumstances, Nasqueron may be required to disclose Ops PII if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, for e.g. a court.

Nasqueron may disclose PII in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • comply with a legal obligation
  • protect the personal safety of users of the service or the public
  • protect against legal liability
